my engine went through this phase for about a week where when it was cold it clicked, i donno what it is, i was about to take it in, but then it went away!

What kind of motor oil are you using? Its normal for the EJ20 to tick when cold. Using a quality synthetic oil will make some of the ticking sound go away.

mine used to tick when i used that chevron with tecron crap, now i use 76 and it runs fine

from my limited understand the tick would be caused by a slightly sticky valve. You could try pouring a small amount of Marvel Mystery oil into the crank case and see if it can loosen up your valves a lil.

This may not be the problem but if you had some MM handy it would be worth the shot
