My custom made up-pipe finally give up on me and starts to leak. I'm looking into getting a new one, probably with a flex joint. Have any of you had any problem with a flex joint up-pipe?
I'm also thinking of gutting out the stock one instead of buying a new one...
Which option will you guys recommend? gutted or flex?
Many thanks,

). I went w/ the STi (or equivialnt JDM) one because like the oe one it has a flex joint. The price was good too- $125 w/ jetcoating to boot. No leaks six months later, I think that is the norm.big sky

Alot of New Englanders have success with the BPM's from www.subaruwrxparts.com/per-wrx.html I cannot comment personally, i still have the stock up-pipe.

The gutted stock uppipes have bad flow properties due to the rapid changes in diameter without the cat material. The STi uppipe is probably the best as far as reliability goes but many will argue that the Perrin and PDE are not far behind.

Thanks for all the reply guys!
So does anyone have a picture of the inside of a STi/JDM uppipe?
I noticed the stock one is fairly smooth on the inside, except the part after the cat, it looks kind of like a bottle neck.
Also, is it true that a STi/JDM uppipe don't have an EGT bung?

The STi pipe doesn't have a egt bung, doesn't need one. Many of the aftermarket pipes have gone away w/ the bung as it's one last thing to leak (back out). You simpy use a $.10 resistor to let the ecu everything is OK.

BPM Up pipe
I have been using a BPM up pipe with much success. I actually melted my stock up pipe. Ever since the replacement, there's quicker, smoother spool up.
