I just purcahsed one of those Borla headers from Renick and am planning on buying an uppipe. Cant decide between MRT or the PDE. It seems like some people say you should get one with a flex joint so the MRT seems like a good choice, while other people say that the PDE has no problems, any advice?

My real question is what should this cost to have both installed and where should I go? Better yet is there anyone out there willing to help me install it myself? I'm willing to pay someone if you can assure me it will be a good job.

The PDE is nice because you can get them custom made with an extra bung from SPI. Beyond that I would say either would be fine. Although the trend seems to be in putting a flex joint in I've done tons of research on this and have not (yet) heard of any failures of uppipes because they did not have a flex joint. Down the road... who knows.

 

Install is a breeze to do it yourself, find a few jacks and jackstands plus metric tools (don't forget the O2 sensor wrench)and it could be done for a first-timer in about 2-3 hours.

If I still lived in SoCal I would be happy to help, but now I'm on the opposite side of the country.

 

I did some searches in the forums and have decided to take it to Subie Specialties in Monrovia, they are gonna charge 290 for both the header and uppipe. Better than the 400 that the dealerships wanted.

I think I'm also gonna go with the APS uppipe that will be arriving this month. I hope it's as good as the marketing on their site,
