Where are all the cams?
Shopping around for parts i noticed something. Why are there almost no aftermarket cams for WRX's? I just thought it weird and was wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing. Is it becuase they dont really give much performance or what? Just curious.
From what I have been told cams are:
-Way too expensive for the money they cost alone (no install)
-Way too expensive for the install (mix both prices and its rediculous)
-Don't give too much performance
-Make the car run kinda poopy
But if you have the means, and you want your car to sound like a racecar at stoplights. I believe JUN, STi, and a few others make cams for the WRX. Check xxeleration.com, and of course our wonderful review section at I-Club.

Cams make a huge difference when properly tuned for on the Subarus (based on WRX heads, not STI) The main reasons there are not a lot of them available is cost both of parts and labor.
I think that installation is also a major factor. The ej20 has 2 banks of cylinders, and it is dohc, which totals up to 4 camshafts. In addition, I am pretty sure that you have to pull the engine to get clearance for the install. Inline 4 engines, though sounding like a constant fart, have the advantage here in that they only have one or two camshafts, and they are right at the top of the engine bay.
