if you are running a stock turbo you really dont need one, but the spt will from fine with a stock turbo.

if you don't mind me asking for details, i think it would help narrow down the field of replies.

If you just want more "sound" (BPV activation, etc), some people hack away the snorkus/air chamber in the psgr side wheel well.

If it's performance, tell us your mods/planned mods. do you have aftermarket ECU or reprogrammer? etc..

personally, i'm quite happy with the stock air intake as is, and i tuned from there. stock turbo, but up/TBE/Cobb AP tuned by Mike/GST.

I would stick with the SPT, but always keep ur stock one just incase. SPT is carb legal as well so thats a plus.

i have read that the maf is designed for the stock intake and aftermarket ones can throw it off and cause problems down the road.

SPT
cobb short ram
k&n typhoon
The AEM cai
are all decent intakes that work well.

I run the spt and It is fine. i put down 265whp(on a mustang dyno) with it with a vf34 set up. I love my carb sticker that came with it.

the cobb intake just got retro'd to CARB legal so thats a plus (and the airbox that you can get definitely makes it a plus)

well im looking for sound and performance... i know the stock intake will get me the best numbers but im not to picky about a few numbers... i have a 2.0L with stock turbo... eventually a 16g will take its place. i have a tbe with a cobb v2 and that is about it...

i need carb legal parts and i was told K&N was a bad intake to go with if it has an oiled filter on it. i've also been told that the spt is too restrictive and isn't good for the car. however this is all things i have heard 2nd hand...

+1 for the Cobb set up, I run with the stock set up as well. If you want some noise get a good bov.

Ya before i did research i bought a AEM CAI and my check engine light comes on at random times also my fuel gague will drop to empty then back to where it was at. i'm thinking it may be due to the fact that im pushing in more air but the ECU cant read it so its burning lean? i really dont know and just live with it right now.

Im 330whp and 315 torque with a stock air box with a K&N drop in filter. I have a VF34 with 21psi peak boost. 100,000 mile 2.0, ya, you should ok with the stock air box.

im getting a APS 70mm cai with a gt30r here pretty soon so, APS 65mm will be cool for you.

I am putting down 205 hp and 257 tq on a stock turbo with the stock intake.
That being said I used to run a K&N. Ran into some problems in that #1 it messed with my apv2 OTS tune. #2 the place where the MAF was installed got really hot my usual temps with my stocker are like 127-130. With the K&N it was in the 157-190 range depending on outside temps which causes car to pull timing further affecting problem #1.

I have had reccomended to me by my tuner MIKE at GST. The COBB SF intake. It is made of a composite material that wont heat up like the K&N, it is smog legal, it comes with some cool box dohickey.

This is what I will be putting on when I upgrade to a 20g.

Also if you are liiking for the noise factor and want better flow from the stocker BLITZ makes a screen that goes on the bottom that significantly inproves both.

Those are really great numbers for your setup. I bet it feels like a beast. I cant wait to get my 20g.
