That just eliminates the silencer box. In other words it redirects the air from your stock ram air straight to your filter instead of the air passing through the silencer

Just hack the silencer off and leave whats left of it and you have yourself a ghetto CAI...kind of. It sounds nice.

hack off the silencer and plug up the resulting hole. Lotsa icky crap in your fender well. You don't need it mucking up your filter. Those little elbows, though, are pretty cool but usually too expensive for what they are.
