What kind of pistons?
So I took apart my long block at GST and found out that the head gasket was blown. I thought it was going to be an easy fix! I should have known better hahaha. So I found out the sleeve on piston 4 was melted away where the head and block meet. I was going to sleeve my block anyways so that was a big deal. Then further in to the break down I found out that all four pistons had hair line cracks inside the pistons. Tommy at GST thought that maybe I got a bad batch of pistons. I called JE and told them that my car had 12k on the new motor and that I blew a head gasket. Also taht the rod bearings were in good shape and that nothing else was bad and that the pistons look like they were in good condition. Their response was "it’s because the car over heated, that’s why they ALL cracked"
So i had the JE 100mm coated pistons! Now i want to buy some other brand like CP, cosworth, Brian crower, Ross racing. What do you guys think?

Thats what I'm going to roll with when I sleeve my STi motor thats sitting In my garage. Well actually I might just leave It up to Mike at GST to make my parts list.

CP makes good pistons, that being said I have never personally had a problem with the JE's and use them exclusively in our race car's engine.
I know that Wiseco pistons are lighter than both JE and CP but I couldn't tell you how they would hold up to your setup.
I was a little shocked to see your pistons today with the four hairlines on each one to be honest, nearly as much as seeing your modified intake tract objects
I would personally say a casting flaw was more likely than the brief overheat you had albiet a little of a odd overheat being the cause of the hairline cracks.

I got JE forged pistons with coating on the top and bottom. JE Pro Fit Rings. The pistons are 5mm overbore. Car runs great and was tuned by Mike of GST. It PULLS and takes the abuse and asks for more. I have no other expereince with other pistons, I went with Mikes advice and he was right on.
