Ditch the aftermarket intake and go with a reflash from Cobb or EcuTek.

if you really like to get your hands dirty and do it yourself (and you need to pass OBD-2 emissions standards), the utec is the clear winner.

Ecutek and AccessPort both allow you to meet OBDII standards without the risk of blowing your engine through tuning mistakes.

so you're calling the guy incompetent? seems like you're assuming he's too stupid to tune his own car and not blow it up.

i say again: if you're a do-it-yourselfer, there is NO CHOICE.

reflashes are for turn-key types.

Actually, that's what they sell for brand new. On the plus side, you wouldn't have to wait 2-3 months while it's on backorder so maybe it's worth it.

If you're going to buy an Accessport try www.hotsubaru.com (or even try any of COBB's other authorized dealers), it's the parts department of Dallas of Subaru. They frequently stock Accessports ($595 +shipping, for the WRX), so depending what year your WRX is, they might have one for you so you don't have to wait 2 months by going through COBB or buying one used. I ordered mine from Hotsubaru.com on Aug 23rd and got it via 2nd day air UPS on Aug 26th (same week). BTW, last time I checked their website they had 2 Accesports in stock for the 02-03 WRX, but none for 04+. This was yesterday night. Hope that helps.

I would say UTEC. If you add more later you can tune it more. Or you can make race maps and daily driving maps.

I just helped install an AccessPort in my friends WRX and it took like 15 minutes ... 10 of that was the reflash of the ECU. We will see how it does at the track on friday. His best time with just a TBE and uppipe is 14.0 I will let you know in a few days.
