Theoretically the sedan should be quicker since it is slightly lighter in weight. In real life, the WRX EJ20 engine seems to vary in power output from one car to the next. The things that are constant is that the sedan pushes a bit more going into corners because the wagon has more rear weight bias, and 4EAT (automatic) equipped cars are slower to accelerate from a standstill than the 5MT cars.

Go with your preference as to the more practical car for you. The weight is not that big of a difference.

I have a sedan. There are times I wish I had a wagon...

Go with what you like...the speed difference is negligible.

Also, from whay I have heard (I have not verified it) the wagon may be cheaper to insure as it is not listed as a sports car, where as the sedan is - like i said i have not verified this.

well. i bought my wrx for speed. and i got a wagon. weird. the wagon feels just as quick off the line.
the diff comes in the turns. the wagons seems to "wabble".

Wagons have a bit softer suspension than the sedans. Aftermarket suspension will take care of that.
