Vishnu Stage 2 questions

I bought my car 2 months ago with a vishnu stage 2 kit (or so I am told). I like how the car drives and all, but I am wondering what the boost would be with this kit? Right now on the autometer boost gauge that came with the car it reads 12-13 pounds. In another thread I read that the VF34 has the stock wastegate set to around 17-18. How can I tell if the car has the VF34 or not? I know it has the pulley and 3" turbo back exhaust becaus those are visibly obvious. Any other ways to identify what the car has turbo and injector wise? ECU?

visual check...if you know a fella(stock turbo) suby i would compare the size of the turbo....vf30/vf34 is usually alittle bigger than stock turbo...as for injectors if you know where it's located it should be pink(sti injectors)...

ECU...i have a reflashed...you might wanna check under the floor board of your front passenger seat and check the ECU if it's labeled VISHNU...

i have stage 2 also...with the reflash..with a electronic boost controller..i have them set at 16,17,18 lbs..i don't like to go over 18...not suppose to anyway...

i hope that person you bought the car from didn't lie to you...or else that would suck...ok hoped this helps...

without the boost controller what is the Boost? I actually found the FS thread on here. The guy seemed real honest and cool. I am new to subies so I have no idea where the injectors are (sorry, ON a honda I can find everything no problem). Thanks for the help and this is the for sale thread:

https://www.i-club.com/forums/cars-sale-83/fs-sf-bay-02-wrx-wagon-vishnu-stage-2-a-110960/

Don't get me wrong, I love the car and all, but the thread I read that mentioned a VF34 should be boosting 18 pounds made me wonder.

A Vishnu Stage 2 tune should be achieving at least 16 lbs of boost (usually more) even on crappy 91 octane CA pump gas. Call Vishnu at their shop to see if there is a way they could check the map on your ECU to make sure it hasn't been swapped out for a stocker. You don't live far from Vishnu.

The fuel injectors are easy to find. Look for the fuel rails, one on each side of the intake manifold. All modern cars, including Hondas, have fuel rails and fuel injectors. Wiring harness plugs into each injector to supply signal. The bodies of the STi injectors are pink colored.

Egan has two pages dedicated to the installation of Perrin fuel rails and STi 'pinks'. The pics on his pages might be useful to you.

Twenty36 1, you bought this from Brian P., correct? If so, this car does have have a stage two on it, at least to the last of my knowledge it did. Very nice wagon in my opinion. He was actually trying to sell the whole stage two kit and the car separately, since he could've gotten more out of it. I had a friend that was interested, and even I myself debated on taking the stage 2 kit off of his hands, but I didn't quite have all the cash at the time. If it's boosting low, the first thing I would look for is the downpipe...is it the stock downpipe (complete with 2 cats and heatshields)? I actually sold him my stock dp and I know he went to get it smogged, but did he put the aftermarket one back on or not? The easiest way to check that is to either pop your hood or look underneath your car and see if the downpipe (which is the first piece of exhaust system connected to your turbo) is stainless steel or not (or if it has heatshields).

Yeah I bought it from Brian, he seems like an honest guy so I was not doubting him, but if I can figure out why it is not reaching full boost and fix it I would have more power for free. So I might as well . I actually have the stock downpipe at my house and the 3" catless is on the car.

Damnit that's my downpipe...lol, j/k. OK that's what I thought. I doubt he swapped the ecu out, but I guess it's always possible. Does the car run not-so-good, is there any pinging, stuttering, etc? If it runs smooth, it's not the ecu. The stock ecu will not run smooth with that many modifications.

There is a slight possibility that it could just be your boost gauge that is reading off, too. Maybe one of your vaccum lines not connected properly?

The car runs fine, I guess it could be the boost gauge that is off, but it came with the car so I have no idea if anything is wrong with it. Anyone have a vishnu stage 2 that I can pace to see if we are even? I don't mind if the gauge is off, but I would prefer it is not so I can pick up some more ponies . Any other ideas.

Don't the EcuTecks tuned by Vishnu have a low boost mode, like a valet mode that won't allow you to boost over a certain psi? I think they are set at more like 8-9 psi. I doubt that's it. I'm just shootin things out my butt now. But you could try it. I think you haveto toggle with the defrost and brake pedal, I can't remember. Do what Wingless Wonder said and take it into Vishnu and have them check it out. It's really hard to diagnose without being able to see/hear/etc.

well I sent them an e-mail tonight (since I have work and school until Turkey Day, then friday I assume they are closed) asking about the boost setting. Do they still do the meets on Tues at KK in UC? If they do maybe I can shoot by there and see if anyone has any advice.

Ofcourse they do, allthough the meet isn't nearly as big as it used to be. I'm sure you saw it, but here's the link...

Good luck with the car! Oh, and I wouldn't mind a ride in that I have a wagon that looks like it but without the bigger turbo and stuff. I would also like to check out the mirror tint you have on it again...I think that's what I wanto do. If you have any more questions or problems please feel free to post up about it!

Sure no problem, do you go out the KK meets? I may go on Tuesday if I leave my martial arts on time. First gear pulls mean as heck, but 2nd and 3rd is a little weak IMO, but maybe I am used to FWD where time is made up later in the 1/4.

I got a fast response from Vishnu, they also said check for Valet mode and told me how to do it. They also recommended to check for boost leaks.

Any ideas on common places for boost leaks? This is my first turbo car so I have no idea where to start, other than the intercooler connectors.
