Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

VF-43 any good on 2.0??

Hey all,

Anyone know if the VF-43 is any good?

I want to get a better turbo, (I'm running Stock turbo now) But have AP-stage 2. With UP/TB from Helix. I wanted to take the plunge and go for the a better turbo, but I was confused over the vf-30/34 issue but now the 43 has come out . So which is better?

vf43 is the 2007 usdm sti turbo. Nothing wrong with it. It's about $620 brand new vs $850 for a vf34. Vf34 is more expensive simply because there's more demand for it. Back when the wrx first came out, I remember vf34's were going for around $650.

yep, but it should spool later than the stock tdo4 since it is quite bigger and meant for a 2.5 block

It all depends on where you want your powerband to be. If you want an everyday turbo for commuting and fun i'd go with the vf34. I had it and ran it for 30K miles (along with STi pink injectors, fuel pump and tune.). No problems from the turbo. I was also thinking of the 16g but you might lose some low end. (more turbo lag due to the more time to spool)
I haven't heard too much about the vf43 though.

Also the hairline crack on the wastegate has been fixed with the VF43.

Also the VF34 is a more expensive turbo because it kicks ****!

I'd get whichever one you can get the better deal on. VF30/34 or 43

this is a good thread... I'm stage 2 right now and it's really not enough. I got pulled on by a almost stock 07 wrx and I'm pissed. How bad is an 18g on a 2.0 really... I could swing pretty much anything I want, I just want what most want.... more power with longevity plus drivability... Is that possible?
