A fellow Socal i-clubber has one, and took it to a meet. It has superior mid-range and top-end over the stock turbo. Stock is good for 13s flat quarter mile with 150-160kw atw. Vf34 is good for 12s flat with 210-220kw atw (that's with engine internals modified and lots of goodies to match).

With mods it will greatly benefit the car, for example he's at 153kw atw with a FMIC, CAI, Unichip + BC @ 17psi & 3" exhaust. He should gain approximately 30kw by putting the psi up 1 and throwing on a vf34. Of course he's got to compliment it with a fuel pump, regulator and hi flow his injectors so the fuel flow is high enough for all this power.

An up-pipe which will help give even better spooling and power delivery.

If you threw it on a car which was bog stock, there would still be gains, however the better you plant the seeds the higher it will grow.

I have a VF34 setup, I am pretty happy with it.

It builds boost around 3500 RPMS and stays strong till redline.

for the Americans:

150-160 kW= 201-214 hp
210-220 kW= 280-295 hp
30 kW= 40 hp

all give or take a fraction.

I've personally never heard of a VF34 going 12's flat... maybe with a huge shot of nitrous and race gas but most of them go 12.4's at best with race gas and already pushing max boost.

If your car doesn't have a serious case of anorexia, I wouldn't expect a VF34-equipped WRX to run better than 12.4. The best I've heard of personally is 12.5, but one tenth is not an unreasonable claim, especially in socal.

is a good turbo, unless dragging is your only purpose. Personally, I actually throw my car into corners at the track.

Exactly... a 34 or 30, and also a 39, are all great all around turbos.
