Uppipes for '04 WRX

Just a question for all who might have done this already. What is the situation with catless uppipes and CEL's on '04 WRX's? From what I have been reading the CEL fix does not work on '04s. Is this for all pipes or do certain ones not have this problem? THe pipes I am looking at is the Vishnu, Perrin and possibly Turbo XS. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The uppipe resistor fix works fine on the '04s. Now go buy that Vishnu uppipe.

Was that with a resistor fix or just an uppipe Scott?

that was with just the up-pipe

we have to do some checking, since we have never seen a CEL with one of our up-pipes ( there are 3 cars right now that we know are running them and have never had a CEL from it ) to find out why our up-pipes are not throwing the CEL like the others.

Nate did a quick check and thinks it has to do with the depth of our EGT bung and the placement. When they did the design of the first S-Squared up-pipe, Jeremy mesured the stock pipe and did the design exact to the stock for the egt placement and depth. We think it has something to do with that why the EGT is getting the correct readings where as the other up-pipes are not hence throwing the CELs

our prototype up-pipe has been on a car for 2 years and has never had a CEL from it. The other two are more current ( being a 2003 and a 2004 WRX ) and neither of them have gotten a CEL.

Ill let you know more tomorrow when we take some mesurements.

As far as I know, just because it has a bung doesn't mean it's not going to throw a CEL. Also Pony Express Performance has a CEL fix for the rear o2 sensor that has been around for awhile, but I heard it doesn't work for 04's.

So far so good.. I just had my uppipe installed by s-sqaured.. I think i should reset the ECU for the adjustments.

But I do notice a faint flutter from the uppipe, could any of you tell me this is a normal sound from a catles uppipe.

There are still no in-line electrical fix for the rear 02 sensor.
according to others around and on this board, even some of the up-pipes with the EGT bungs in them still throw a CEL

I have a used Perrin for sale, $150. PM me if you're interested. Only 4000 miles on it. Still in excellent condition, with Perrin studs.

some uppipes will throw this code:

P0545 Exhaust gas temperature sensor circuit low input

even if you have a bung and you use the o2 sensor.

I believe that happens if the EGT is not far enough into the up-pipe for it to get an accurate reading

I agree with scott. If an up-pipe has a bung, but the sensor isn't threaded into it deeply enough it won't get the same flow past it as it would if it were threaded deeper.

I have an S-Squared up-pipe, and I've never gotten a CEL, period.
