uppipe/downpipe installed.... BIG PROBLEMS

Ok so i installed a vishnu uppipe and helix downpipe (which includes midpipe)...

everything went smoothly... everything was working fine, i took a drive to get gas earlier today and everything was a ok.... later today i went to start my car and the exhaust was 3 or 4x as loud as it should be.... a really rasspy.... bad sound... and when i went to drive the max boost it would reach was around 10psi... at most.

would this be some kind of upipe/downpipe leak causing these loud loud noises and lack of boost?

also... no CEL has come up yet... i didn't do the cel fix on the downpipe.. and i assumed i would get one....

now, ive been reading that if its an uppipe leak it would be a high pitched screeching noise.

My noise is NOTHING like that. The sound kicks in when i press on the gas... at ANY RPM in ANY gear. It is a really really loud raspy thumpy noise...

sounds like a downpipe leak perhaps... did you use all new gaskets on the install? You need to make sure to get all 5 bolts (including the pesky one under the turbo) on the downpipe. I had a bit of leak when I first put everything one, so I threw it back up and hit every bolt a second time. Also, if you took the intercooler off, double check all the vacuum lines.

It's either the EGT probe coming out (I saw this happen on the Vishnu stage III production car- it was cool) or an uppipe leak, which is way NOT cool. You'll know for sure once you check out the EGT.

check the egt probe like everyone else said. ALSO check the 02 sensor in the downpipe.

if you're only getting 10 PSI, it'll be in the uppipe, you won't lose boost if it's a leak in the DP.

Just plug up the EGT probe with a bolt and use a 2.2k ohm resistor. You can tighten the EGT probe as much as you want, but sooner or later, the pulses from the exhaust will walk the probe back out.

i must be really lucky, then--going on 10k miles with that probe not budging an iota.

What used to happen to some of the cars we have seen is that, after they use launch control(UTEC), the probe will be loose.

of course, these are just certain special incidences that we have seen. =)

ahh... that dastardly launch control strikes again!!!

it seems using that takes quite a toll on your mechanicals. too bad... i'm sure it's a rush!
