Update on my motor build if anyone is interested
well i have had a long journey through my motor build and some parts have been changed around. here was my current set up that i was supposed to have done january 1st.
ej22 closed deck block
ej25 crank for 2.35 displacement
custom h beam forged rods
custom forged pistons
heads done by Dan Paramore Racing ( DPR )
fully ported and polished heads with factory cams
sti valvesprings and retainers
sti tvg housings
pe 800 cc injectors
custom turbo manifold
60-1 stage 5 turbo with .58 a/r
tail 40 mm wastegate
blitz front mount
still no ecu
so onto the story. all i was waiting for was my pistons and then my motor would be complete. the dealership who contracted all of this for me calls the engine builder this last tuesday and asks him what the hell is going on. so he says that the guy who he placed the order with the pistons quit and he has to reorder them and it may take 11 weeks. ( holy crap ) so the dealership calls me and i am very upset. the dealershipe calls the engine builder back and says the we are going to go through someone else and he took to long. well i suppose the builder didn't want to lose the business so he gives me and option of resleaving my block with extra thick wall sleaves and increasing the bore to make the motor a 2.5. he also guarantees 30 days from last tuesday and it will all be done. so i gave it the okay and we will see if it was worth it.
the engine builder also claims that he has the same motor configuration on his sandrail drag motor that runs alcohol and it produces 800 flywheel hp. i hope all goes well and i can drive my car in april.
this has been the longest 6 months ever.
so i would have to say that some good things and some bad things came from this. Good things being i now have a 2.5 motor that is "bulletproof", my engine will actually be finished, and i dont feel so bad about the new sti being a 2.5 since i have one too. the bad things being that i had to wait this long, and that now i may have to buy bigger injectors and and a bigger turbo.
i will keep you all posted as soon as i get more info.

When the builder said "same motor configuration", was this a Subaru engine, or something else like a small-block Chevy? I've just never heard of a Subaru motor in a sand drag vehicle.Good luck on your powertrain. I'll be curious to see what she'll turn at the drags after she's broken in.

oh yeah as for wingless wonder:
subaru's are probably among the top three motors of choice in any sand rail. i have been going to the desert for some time now and have just about seen it all. i would say the number one choice is a northstar motor, then subaru, then a turbo 13b (rotary).
check these sites out for some more info.

Cool beans!
Did you update your heads to "shim under bucket" or retained the USDM OEM "shim over bucket"?
My block is built to sililar specs. I also had Darton sleves installed to for extra level of performance.

the turbo manifold i am using is the one in the picture. the downpipe is going to be stainless and custom done by me. the up pipe section will be modified for my 40 mm tial wastegate and my turbo. the old turbo choice was a 60-1 with a stage 5 and a .58 a/r. since the displacement just went up 1.5 liters i am probably going to go with a t-66 with q trim option.
