Which up pipe/down pipe?
best uppipe/dp combo....i don't really know what to tell you on this one, i think that's more of personal preference than anything. almost all of the uppipe/dp i have seen have been good quality products, but none really being superior to others in the aspect of performance gains.
to buy and from who?--i always suggest the guys over at worldoneperformance when anyone asks my opinion. they are really professional, awesome customer service, and really good prices. their selection of products is one of the best also.
How long should this take to install with the car on a lift?--this really depends on the person doing the install and availability of all the needed tools. i have heard people do it in two hours, four hours and i have even heard six hours. incidently, i will be doing my uppipe this saturday by myself, i will let you know who long the install takes.

I would do an HKS up and down pipe. It will give you the best bang for the buck.
I would get it from Z-1 Performance. They are running free shipping on the downpipe already. You can have the uppipe sent in the same box. www.z1auto.com
thanks,
Greg

Some of the popular top of the line up and down pipes:
Perrin. Vishnu. Turboxs.
those are nice pieces.....
There are others that are nice as well and a bit less.
The Helix downpipe from Gruppe-s is nicely priced and has a bellmouth design... I would get one of those if I wanted an up-pipe.. great piece nicely priced...perhaps not a pretty as the Vishnu or Perrin or Turboxs......

perrin up and down pipe.

zerosports downpipe is the most expensive I have found but I think cause its a japanese part and it only works with the zerosports catback or other JDM catback. their turboback exhaust is $1,600
from the reviews I have read, I would stay away from the HKS downpipe, unless you're not going to be making large amounts of HP.

Next question - What kind of 1/4 mile time gains could I expect leaving the stock muffler on? I looked on World One and couldn't find the Perrin. A local guy has a new Perrin up pipe for $225. Is that a good price?

Last week I was out at MPJ performance and they had both the perrin up and down pipes. There up-pipe cost was $225.00 as well.
1/4 miles times I cannot quote or state. With both up and downpipes replaced you ought to have about 20 more hps though.

You don't need the bellmouth down pipe unless you plan on running a lot of boost. You will not see any performance gain from have the bellmouth downpipe unless you are running high boost. If you plan on changing your turbo and running more boost than I would get the bell mouth. If you don't plan on changing the turbo I would go with the HKS.
