Unifilter Rampod & running lean?

I have a unifilter rampod intake. I dont have a cel problem. do any of you guys know if this intake will make my car run lean? Unfortunately I purchased this intake before I found this site, and now after reading some of the threads Im thinking of going back to the factory airbox.

Sounds like a good idea, going back to stock that is. And forget lean problems... how about all the particles that will eventually not only clog your intercooler but wreak havoc on our turbo's fins. You're just asking for trouble.

Thanks for the info. I just put the factory airbox in and the car runs smoother, lost alittle power but Ill gain more when I get an uppipe. do you think removeing the pipeing before the airbox will help or do you think it would be a bad idea? thanks

go to scoobymods.com for information on a 'silencer' mod which is DEFINITELY worth checking out...to gain the power back sooner you can reset your ECU by disconnecting the negetive battery terminal and depressing the break pedal for 5 seconds, and then drive your car like you stole it for the next few tanks...also there is an old thread around here that gives you an extra 15-20 horsepower by doing this little trick..here it is: https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...t=vishnu+trick ...good luck!

Will that vishnu trick work on a factory ecu that hasn't had a vishnu reflash. It said it will work on the factory ecu but it seemed like they were refering to an ecu that has been flashed. Do you think this trick is detectable by the dealer and if so do you know if it can be reset to factory map by disconnecting negetive battery cable? Also will this have a negative effect on reliability? Thanks for the info on the silencer. I hope this will work with my factory mapped ecu. good info thanks.

i doubt it will do any harm. its not detectable b/c it just speeds up the same thing that would happen under normal driving as far as i know. ive never heard of any negetive effects on reliability, just make sure you use good gas. good luck.

The Vishnu quick reset is safe. It is not the same as a reflash and works on the factory (non-reflashed) ECU. The dealer won't be concerned because there is no modification to the ECU and the factory map is undisturbed. All the reset does is accelerate the learning feature of the ECU so that your car can get up to the maximum power that can be achieved on the grade of gas you are using at the time of the quick reset.

If your ECU was already at the maximum ignition advance before the reset, you won't see any gain.

Thanks to all of you guys. Once I figure out how to convert hkpa (not kpa) to psi ill try it. I was told that 1 hkpa is about 1 bar but I will call blitz to get exact conversion. thanks again.

hkPa=kPa. Here's a link with conversion tables for the various common ways of measuring air pressure. Basically, 1 kPa= .001 Bar = .15 psi, and 1 Bar = 100 kPa = 14.5 psi or 14.7 psi, depending on who you ask. Your intake can have 3 different effects on your engine= running leaner, running richewr, or (if you're lucky) running the same. An intake can be like putting an SAFC on your car, only you don't know what the settings are and you can't change them. That's why sometimes an intake can make some horsepower, but I would never trust my engine to such uncalibrated and inconsistent "tuning".

Thanks for the reply Monkey. I got rid of the unifilter rampod, installed the factory airbox and removed the silencer. I also replaced the coupler between the wastegate T and the boost silinoid with 3/16" coupler and now in second gear my peak boost has increases from 11 psi to 14. $1.00 mod from scoobymods.com. Thanks again.
