I want to remap my old unichip. But if I have this in and have my car tuned will it work or not. Or will I just be wasting more money on tunning for nothing
Granted the unichip is not the favorite piece of engine managment anymore, but it still makes HP, and it's cheap.
If you are a turboXS purchaser of the unichip, they will reflash it to any of their already complete unichip maps, sans shipping. If you want a custom remapping, you have to go to them and pay for dyno time.
You can also go and find a authorized dastek tuner(maker of the unichip) and have them tune your car as well.

My advice is to sell the unichip (if you can find anyone who still wants it), and invest in a ECUTEK reflash or a WRXLINK.

What kind of engine management did you use to run that 12.6? I know it sure as hell wasn't a Unichip.

I'd like to know why you suggest to ditch the unichip in favor of the other 2 types of EM. You didnt give a reason why. That's why I was asking.

I'll tell you why. The Unichip is basically a Piggyback computer. It works decently for about a week or so, then the ECU learns around the Unichip's settings. With a LINK ECU, you're completely replacing the stock ECU. Plus you can make precise fuel, boost, timing, adjustments. You can also moniter everything else on a laptop. ECUTEK is the same. It's basically a reprogrammed stock ECU. You still have all the safety nets in place though. But I'm sure you knew all this.

of course I knew that
I just wanted to see what you had to say about it, since your advice was to ditch the unichip.Either way there are no AWD dyno's here so complete EM is a bit harder for us to tune properly.
The ECUTEK is a mixed bag here. Some people love it, some hate it.
The unichip works pretty well for me, and it fit my budget at the time, so im pretty satisfied with it. "If it ain't broke dont fix it"
Thanks for answering the question, maybe the thread starter will have a better idea of what to do, and consider other possible alternatives for EM.
