Question TXS Turbo Back/Smog????

Just curious if anyone has tried to smog thier WRX with the TXS turbo back on the car. And if so have you passed....cause the cat on the turbo back seems to not do much for exhaust smell. TIA for the info.

Keep in mind that even if your car passes the sniffer test, the visual inspection is just as important and is PASS/FAIL. There is no aftermarket downpipe that is CARB-approved in California, regardless of whether or not it passes the no-load emissions part of the smog test. Just be aware that even if someone passes with Brand X downpipe, it doesn't mean that you will pass using the same downpipe at a different smog station or even the same smog station with a different technician performing the visual inspection.

Be sure to drive the car for a good 20 to 30 minutes before showing up for smog testing. The catalytic converter needs to be brought up to operating temperature for it to function properly. A cold cat means high emissions. Warming it up thoroughly and keeping it warm can make a big difference during the sniffer test.

I dont think it will pass the sniffer test in CA. Dont we have the most strict laws?

I have no experience or testing...my opinion comes from my nose. I can smell the exhaust all the time. Cold, hot doesnt matter, it smells. I dont see how it can pass if I can smell the raw exhaust. I dont think the cat really does a whole lot.

My 2 cents.

Yeah I can smell it too thats why I was wondering....it makes sense that it wouldn't for that reason aswell as visual. Its pretty obvious that there is a cat-less down pipe its ginormic. Out of curiousity, if I were to switch out my exhaust for something with cats on downpipe and mid pipe it might not smell as bad I think does anyone know of another turbo back that would be better? Still a nOOb so just trying to get a good sense of what I need to think about in the future. thanks guys.
