Unhappy TXS Stealthback throwing bad cat signal

I just recently purchased the TXS stealth back and the cat is F***ing bad. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with that. I'm kind of new to modding so....just seeing if its normal. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is the code for the rear o2 sensor? Do you have any type of check engine light fix?

Since the cat is high flow, the ecu will notice more emmissions than its used to, thus the "catalyst ineffeciency" code.

Unless the cat is truly messed up(burnt/falling apart), you can prevent the cel from coming on via an extension for the rear o2 sensor.

Extension for rear O2 sensor? Sorry very new, the rear o2 sensor as far as I can see is connected so I'm confused. But the cat is new like 5 days new so it shouldn't be the cat. (no burnt/falling apart). So it could just be the higher amount of exhaust passing through and tripping the cel? Will the Cobb AP fix this problem? What about smogging?

I also have no cel fix.

Have the code pulled. If your check engine light is on and if the code is an "inefficient cat" like Subie OCD pointed out AP can defeat the code. I had a TXS highflow before I had any EM and it threw bad cat code. Highflow cats can cause the check engine light to turn on. It doesn't necessarily mean it's busted.

btw, if your txs highflow cat fails you'll know. You'll smell the fumes and hear the brick rattling.

mechanical O2 sensor fix....via spacers. run a search in NASIOC if you have to, but there's a fix if your cat isn't faulty.

i have the TXS Stealthback and had the fix done during the initial install...no problems in the years i've had it.

Word thanks guys I think I'll pick up the AP I was planning on doing that anyways but now have an excuse to get it sooner. Yeah there isn't any bad smell or anything like that so its no cat prob, just unhappy ecu....but I'll fix that. Thanks again.

this is the Nasioc thread that doughboy was referring to: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...6&page=1&pp=25

If you are going to get the AP then you prolly wont need to do the fix

thanks for referencing the thread, Ryan!

that's the principle behind the mod. however, mine didn't require that much fabrication. Soren and i drove down to the local Kragens and bought what i *think* were spark plug spacers for less than $10. Merk (sp?) did have to do some dremeling, but it wasn't very complicated.

and yes, AP = no need for this mod.

np. just trying to help out. I actually didn't do the full on weld job either. Buried somewhere in that thread someone suggested using two spark plug foulers which worked for me. Sounds just like what you and Soren did, too.

ezombie - the two spark plug foulers is a simpler mechanical solution but just as effective.

You guys freakin rule thanks so much for the advice, I think I'll go with AP....but got to save. I might just have to deal with the cel till then...it'll be tough though that light bugs me.
