Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Turbos, what are you using?

Turbos, what are you using?

I am looking in to getting a new turbo I plan on mainly street driving, with a few track days ever now and then. I would higher boost ( 18+ psi ) over fast spool. Also if there are any turbo you want warn me of that would be nice also.
ThankS for your input.

I am currently running one of the 'fabled' TD05H exhaust housings on my WRX. This is the exhaust housing that used to be on the earlier WRXs (don't remember the year) with the subaru 3-bolt pattern for bolt-on no hassle goodness .

Actually their is a turbo shop in Golden CO - www.turboengineering.com that I had build me a TD05H-18G turbo that I REALLy like. Just recently I ran a 12.9@106mph 1.96 60' up at Bandimere Raceway (6000ft above sea level) on pump gas with this turbo.

Give Jim at TEC (turboengineering) a call about this turbo. He can also put either a 16 or 20G compressor wheel with the TD05 exhaust side as well depending on your goals.

If you want a more detailed review of this turbo setup with logs click here:

http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showth...&highlight=tec

If you do a search over there you will find two other people running this exhaust housing (which they got from TEC as well). One of them has a 20G compressor wheel and TD06 compressor housing to boot and the other person has a 18G comp. wheel in a 16G comp. housing. I went with a straight 18G compressor wheel inside a 18G compressor housing.

Enjoy!

IMHO, I liked the VF-30 top end just fine but the spool up wasn't that great. If spool up is your issue then consider a small Garrett hybrid like the APS SR-30 (this is what I did to increase spool but keep the top end).
