Turbo Timer not doing it's job.

so i just finished putting in my new hks type 1 turbo timer into my 2003 wrx, the timer itself works as it is supposed to as far as i know. i went for a little drive to get the car warmed up and put some seconds on the timer when i shut my car off it only stayed running for like 1 second. i drove around for a bit more and tried again and the same thing happened, i got the timer up to about 50 seconds thinking that should be enough everytime.
did i possible hook something up wrong? has this happened to anyone else? im confused as to what is going on with it.

Do you use your emergency brake? Did you hook the wire up to the emergency brake switch?

Check wires and reset the turbo timer.

is it possible that i got directions for a different year? i remember getting confused because i had two sets of directions and wire colors were different on them. the e-brake wire i spliced with was red (not pink), the RPM wire (brown from the turbo timer), i spliced with the (green) wire in the ecu, and the blue (SPEED) wire that (according to my directions) was suppose to plug into the ECU was connected to the part of the harness that plugs in underneath the steering column.

you want to make sure the wires are grounded to metal in your car. in my trubo timer, blitz, I didnt hook up my parking brake and didnt ground the wire that went to my parking brake and everything worked fine except it didnt keep running when i shut the car off. Then i grounded that wire and it worked perfectly. hope that helps

does it have to be grounded to somewhere that is constantly getting power? or does that not matter?

it should be grounded to bare metal that has no power on it. ie chassis, engine block, etc.

Well if you got the wires right and the ground is good. Just try resetting it. It wouldn't hurt to just try that.

i tried ressetting it and playing around with all the other features (0-60, RPM gauge, etc...) but none of that seemed to work either.

Shouldn't have to tear apart the steering column.

Did you buy the harness to plug it to the car or did you splice into wires?

i have the harness but i still had to splice into the e-brake wire and the RPM wire coming out of the ECU. i tore the steering column apart so i could get a better ground, and beleive me it is well worth it to pull out the 3 screws and take it off. gives yuo a lot more room.

I was just out playing around with it again and found that when i just turn the key to the accessories ON position, set the timer, then pull the key out it will work and counts down but if i turn the car all the way on and try the same thing, it shuts right off. I have redone all the wiring (2 wires) except for the one to the ECU. so i am hoping that it has something to do with that. any suggestions?

Reset ECU....same thing happened with my apexi. You should be fine afterwards. Take off the negative terminal on the battery.
