judging by the fact that the top end rolloffs look to be the same, i think the top end cfm/psi is limited by the ECU in these two cases.

as a result there's probably more to be had up top if you relaxed the rolloff.

no 1st hand experience here, though... unfortunately!

I am putting in a deadbolt P/P TD04 along with an txs uppipe today. Deadbolt recommends a 250 mile break-in on the turbo. Will let you know how things develop. Keep your fingers crossed for a leak free installation.

I have had a deadbolt 'Monster' TD04 on my car since MAY03.
It has a port and polish and 'light clip'. IIRC, the clip was 7*and clipping is optional.
My car is an 02 with the equivelant of a stage 4+ level of mods, minus the STi injectors.
I'm running a stage 3 map, very lightly tweeked, max boost is 17psi.
It feels like a small NA V8 inder the hood.
Boost is early(I've seen boost by 1700rpm), and it pulls hard. MUCH better than the un-modded unit.

I like the performance very much, but....as I'm getting too used to it, I've ordered a 'Monster' TD05 from Jerry for even more power

If you want or need to keep the TD04 for some reason, get it Monstered.
If you want a better performing VFxx, get it ported.
It is worth the coin.

My 2¢

I passed the price of an STi LONG AGO....

I guess the BEST way to get your dyno numbers would be to have your car dyno'd and then install the P&P'd turbo, re-dyno it and see for yourself.

I seem to remember somebody getting 233awhp out of one on a lightly modded car, on pump gas and the stock IC.

It's not so much about more peak power, but a broader power band, increased driveability and lots less lag.

Yep,

long past the price of an STI. Would like the 6-speed though.

my understanding is that the ported turbo works just fine on an otherwise stock car. now, to get the best out of it, things like an up/down pipe, cat back, and ecu reflash would probably be helpful -- but again, not required.
