Tumble Generator Valve problem

Hey guys,

So I've been running a TBE for about two year without a tune. Yeah, I know its bad but I never got around to it. So my car is at 60K now and my CEL just turned on yesturday. I had a mechanic look into it and the code read DTC P1090 Tumble Generated Valve System 1 (Valve Open). My question is, did my untune TBE break the valve? And does my warranty cover this? Or does my TBE void my warranty?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Have an accessport in order =)

you've got an 03 so you might be out of warrenty based on age, and not milage. TBE should only void your exhaust warrenty but they'll probably say since you have an exhaust, you abuse the vehicle and your TGV problem is a result of this. However, you can just call the dealer, give them the code and see what they say.

Put stock pipes back on and take it in. If you don't have yours you can borrow mine.

Your TBE should not be a problem. It's probably just the TGV, put the stock one back on and see if your warranty still cover.

Happened to me a couple of times. I have a catless TBE and I read the codes with my accesport. No biggie just keep resetting the ECU when you get your AP. And a stuck open TGV won't effect anything.

TBE doesnt have anything to do with your TGVs. Check for an unplugged sensor or signs of wear and tear on them. Like Subytech said, he has plenty of working TGV motors and sensors.

It has something to do with cold-start emissions I think..

cold-start emission, meaning it will affect me smogging my car?... hmm So I was just reading on how to get to the TGV because i was thinking about fixing this myself (no idea how to fix it) and it seems like a lot of work getting to the TGV. Anyways does deleting the TGV have any performance advantages and will deleting it fix my problem?

Oh and oddly the CEL just turned off xD, I'm so comfused...

Ditto. Probably just a fluke of a code.

As long as the code is not on while its being smogged, you will be fine. There are sensors that plug in the side, slightly below the intake manifold. Check to see what kind of condition the plug is in and that its in all the way.

are there any like distinguishing features about the plugs? Because I don't know how to identify them.
