just FYI, there are no downpipes that i know of that are made from titanium, just catbacks. Titanium will deform at high temps and probably catch fire.

where'd you hear that? titanium is well known to be extremely resistant to high temps.

I know most fighter jets are Titanium, i dunno where u heard that from.

most are made from composites now, pure titanium and it's alloys are not good around 6-800 celcius, they start to react with other materials and elements that may be present. when your talking about engine parts. in jet engines you only seem them in the outer jet casings, fan blades and pieces that need good strength-weight ratios; you won't see them in the hotter engine areas. titanium alumnides which are being developed now will be good for high temps though.

its known for being extremeley resistant to corrosion, and it's tensile strength of course. You are right though, that it does have a high melting point.
