Timing belt installation??
While installing the timing belt the cam gears on the right hand side of the motor(left side if looking at it from front of car)jumped out of alignment. Now I'm afraid that the valves may have hit one another. As I cannot seem to turn the exhaust gear back so that it lines up. I'm thinking that the resistance I'm feeling when I turn the gear is the cam lobe contacting the lifter and hence the spring is the resistence. However I may be wrong and it might be the valves contacting. How can I tell. and what is the easiest way to fix this? The exhaust cam gear is off and when I spin it counter-clockwise to match it to the intake, it meets with resistence a few teeth shy of lining up. Is this resistance the valve's contacting or just the base circle of the cam coming in contact with the lifter?
I have the manual but it's explanation is a little vague.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
