TBE question

is just got a new full JDM length TBE, and I was wondering if I need a tune post-installation? Ive heard yes and no..

a catless dp definatly requires a tune but if the dp is catted you can get by w/o. A tune is the majority of your hp and tq gain

yea you should tune it.....if you dont tune it at least get an AP and use a TBE map...but IMO i would get the AP and the tune

With the older 02/03 WRXs you can get away and not have issues with a catless TBE. A tune is recommended tho.

This. A tune will roughly double the performance benefit of the DP.

Call paul im sure he will hook you up. on an AP at GST its around 300.

Yea pretty much wether its buying parts or the premium gas. Im pretty sure your car will eventually malfunction if you just start putting 20 dollar bills in the tank though.

EQ Tuning can tune you without an AP, I believe.

Also, for extra credit, do an UP first.

This is The most expensive hobby to get into...It comes with the territory. I once was told you take your purchase price and multiply that by 5 and thats what you get when you add to it. Sounds right with cars. The gas, maintenance, insurance got it. Then we forum guys have the bonus level of modifying our cars. So we got exhaust, suspension, engine components, body kits, etc. Never ends.

Shoot I dont have an AP, will Paul still be able to tune me? And I think I am gonna consult the x5 rule from now on before I make purchases.

no he cant do it without an AP.. but if you buy the AP thru Paul i believe he knocks off $50 from the tune... Just call him and ask to make sure
