Tanabe Ultra Medalion Exhaust
I'm looking into getting this exhaust but was wondering if anyone has any experience with it (there are no reviews for the Ultra in the reviews section... ran a couple of searches and can't find much)
Anyone have any reviews or pictures of it installed on a WRX?
I'm not looking for a extremely loud exhaust, but I really like the N1 look... and titanium kicks a$$. I understand that the Ultra comes with a silencer.
I was originally thinking about the HKS Ti/Carbon but it doesn't come with a silencer and it has a massive can... I think the Tanabe Ultra might fit the bill but wanted some feedback first.

i jus got it...and i love it, sound is beautiful....the system aint those shinny chrome thing. its kinda plain with a staind tip...ill try to get you pics soon. but wow its extreme light, after all its only titanium...hehe...as far as the silencer, yes it comes with one, but i dont use it, i like hear my motor.
and as far as the install....took me all of 30min to get stock off and tha tanabe on. bolted perfectly. but if you want the N1 look, the ultra medallion isnt that...and one more thing be prepared to drop some big *** $$$ for this exhaust.

Travis, I'm not sure if the Ultra is the same as the Racing one, but here's a sound clip of the racing one.

Oh btw, you might also want to take a look at the JIC or Greddy full titanium catbacks. They weigh around 10 lbs.

Anything titanium with a big can is going to be loud... That Ultra Medallion looks pretty sweet! I'm still going to wait and see how the Apex'i PS Revolution sounds though...

I Googled the Ultra Medalion & found a GREAT review/thread in the NASIOC archives.
It has pictures and stuff too... check it out!

I like my Hyper, mostly because of the sound. The tip looks big b/c it's an oval muffler, not like the racing medallion. To be honest I didn't notice any real difference in power, but it was still money well spent. It's one part of the exhaust puzzle...
I posted pics of it in the exhaust pics thread.

the ultra medallion is tha ****s...love it and will never get rid of it.
tha tone of it is pretty loud with stock down, mid, and up piping..im assuming the tone is going to significantly change when i switch the piping.
the weight of this thing is unreal, i had the HKS carbon ti on my 240, and it still seemd a bit heavy, but this is like damn! i highly recomend this exhaust to the interested people. and the install is all of 30 min.
15 min to take off stock and 15 to put on tha tanabe.
(it might be quicker for those who have good tools)

How does it sound on the freeway? Does it drone at all?
I'm worried about this being WAY to loud if I install an aftermarket DP. My plan is to get the Cobb catted DP (replaces both the DP and Mid-pipe) and mate it up to a catback. I don't want to have to run an exaust with a silencer in it all the time to avoid tickets and stuff.

sorry im new to tha car world, big jump from trucks to cars...im not understanding by what you saying, drone....but at WOT it seems a little more quiet than at low rpms. you can really hear tha box motor...but say in neutral, dont try to rev it high rpms, cuz it aint all that impressive. but like i said earlier at low rpms sounds beautiful (i personally think its a little quiet at high rpms, someone might have a different view of it). i cant say how it would sound wit a aftermarket down up and mid piping.
