Question straigt pipin for exhaust...hav a concern...

i hav an 02 wrx and currently have a catback exhaust but the catback exhaust i have is custom and it is a straight pipe witout a muffler from the last cat-back...it is not crome nor any color piping that seems aftermartket, but it does not hav a muffler...shud i b concerned about passing my smog test? i got it down at tri-valley muffler in dublin and they told me i wud pass smog...but im concerned i wont pass visual...wats the story?

Technically, if you retain all factory catalytic converters and they are functional it shouldn't make a difference whether or not there is a muffler in your custom catback. Lack of a muffler should not affect emissions significantly as it is only there for sound control purposes.
