Stock BOV Leak Fixable?
hey guys, this weekend am planning on buying a WRX from a dealership with 10k miles, Blue, very very new like, for 16k. But the only reason why he's selling it soo low cause theres a Blow Off Valve Leak which he can fix but doesn't have time so he just put it in the lot with the other cars to sell. So does anyone know if this is a easy fix? Or should I send it to a Subaru Speicalist shop where they can fix it? Let me know. L8s

Is it the stock Bypass valve or an aftermarket BOV? either way i am sure it can be fixed rather easily..Could be the gasket under the BOV or the BOV itself.. You can buy another stock one or just buy an after market one..I personally have had a few BOV's and have settled back to the stock BPV even with my 1820 and txs tmic.. I would really check it out carefully though because to me it seems a little fishy why he would sell it cheap due to the BOV leaking when it is a 10 min fix, there could be something deeper to the problem.

yeah thats what I was thinking too that there might be deeper problems so I decided not to buy it and am waiting til the middle of this month or so if there will be any new WRX's forsale. I was really looking forward to buying my WRX this weekend too =(

I personaly would check it out still..Ask him what is leading him to believe the bov is the culprate..ask him what the symptoms are take it for a drive note anything that doesnt seem normal..If he has a boost guage watch the guage and note how much boost it is making..If you have those variables report back here and ask..

If it is just a BOV problem I would take his low price (which I'm guess is well over $1000 lower than it should be?) and buy a new BOV... OEM or aftermarket, whichever.
