Sti tmic addition?

Hey,

Thinking about getting a bigger intercooler. Possibly used sti tmic for my 04 wrx. Not looking to spend $700+ for new one. Would a sti tmic be worth it to add before I bring it in to get pro tuned?

Thanks,

OEM STi intercoolers are a great mod. Defiantly need one if your upgrading your turbo. The Wrx ones are so dinky. Should pick up a 04-07 STi TMIC for 200-300 depending on condition. You can also use the 08+ Sti TMiC. If you have the funds, they are the biggest OEM TMIC you can fit under the hood.

There are some great aftermarket ones too that are massive!

I'm running a stock JDM v7 STI TMIC and I'm 330whp 340torque

oh ok good. I didn't know the 08+ sti fits in the 04 wrx. Do you know if its a direct drop in? I did a port job on my stock wrx turbo and i didn't wanna spend the money for a new turbo, intercooler, injectors, fuel pump, etc....supporting mods.

There's a recent thread on I-club somewhere about the 08+ TMIC in 02-07's. I think it's a direct fit with no cutting, but don't quote me on that.

How much power you looking for? If you don't mind me asking, how much money was the P&P on the TD04?

oh ok i'll do some digging. On power, I want a decent amount. Got a bunch of friends who i'm trying to beat in terms of speed. Modded gti's, ms3's, s4's etc. I'm running sri, cobb ap stage 2 91 v3 map, 3" TBE catless exhaust, catless uppipe, hi flow header crosspipe, and the ported turbo on my td04. The pnp was $300 a little more. I had grimmspeed do the thermal coating and port job. Prob shoulda done vf39 hahah.

Ahhh no! Lol. 300 for the P&P on the TD04. Should have went with a VF series turbo for sure. I made 330whp and 315torque on my stock 04 Wrx drivetrian reliably on E85.

I ran stock airbox with k&N drop in filter, 3in TBE, up-pipe, fuel pump, 850cc injectors, VF34, USDM STi TMIC, MBC, and a protune from Ed at EQ tuning.

Your not too far from that, just need to run E85!

You may want to look into a larger scoop/splitter/shroud. You will want to make sure you have the right air flow/seal to the intercooler to see more benefit.

I don't know the going rate of these TMICs right now to be honest. Its not in perfect/flawless "cosmetic" condition but it works perfectly fine. I will send you a link to a picture of it to your inbox so u can get an idea of how it looks.

Ok thats cool. I just need it to work lol its under the hood so. I've seen them on ebay for $200-$300. It be great to pick it up locally rather than pay shipping costs and wait for the thing.

Your motor and trans will be fine at 300whp and torque. I ran mine for little more than a year with no issues. Wouldn't go farther than 350whp. 850cc are the minimum size injectors needed for E85. I'm upgrading to 1300cc lol. Our cars love E85! Burns cleaner and give the 2.0l much needed torque and huge whp numbers.

You could have gotten a VF39, 30, 22, 34, 52 for the price of 300. $100 more an almost brand new used one.

As for the price for my VF34 and Injectors. I'm kinda just entertaining offers right now until I get the off my car.
