STi I/C fitment question

I am new to this forum so mabye this question has already been addressed but I'll ask anyways...I want to install an STi intercooler on my 02 WRX, does anyone know what has to be done (if anything) to make it fit?

Also, if anyone is using Cobb Tuning...do I need a new tune when installing the STi intercooler?

Here are my basic power mods:

VF34
STi "pink" injectors
HKS Ti CBE
Bosal DP
APS up-pipe
Gruppe-S Headers
K&N filter, intake silencer delete
Cobb crank pulley, I/C hoses, etc.
Cobb Tuning Access Port

Please Reply, Thanks.

You shouldn't need to get it re-tuned. Although having an 02, you might want to invest in the RA gear set with those power mods, you don't want your tranny goin on you.

Thanks for the info...the RA Gearset is next on my "to do" list, along with an ACT flywheel and clutch. Two things slowing it down...$$ and time to rip apart the tranny.

Any info on the STi I/C installation?

Thanks for the info. For the USDM STi intercooler, what needs to be done? Is it just the bracket that attaches to the turbo that has to be changed? Will the one off of the USDM STi fit?

If anyone has done this before, I'm just trying to find out what parts I need to do it and where I could get them from(i.e. Subaru dealership?).

Thanks.

just get a v7/v8 JDM STi TMIC and it will fit right in...get the USDM STi TMIC if you enjoy headaches...with the USDM intercooler most ppl modify the brackets..and some just muscle that thing on....

i'm running a v7 JDM STi TMIC on my cobb 2.5 wrx with no problems at all...

Thanks Rob, good info. Are you running the VF 34 map? Did you notice any power gains with the STi I/C? Have you had it dyno'ed? Sorry for so many questions...just curious. I am in Germany and Cobb is pretty much my only tuning option, because I am not brave enough to try and tune it myself.

Thanks, Aaron

Check out www.scoobymods.com They should have a step-by-step on how to install USDM STI intercooler on WRX.You will probably need I.C hoses to make it fit.And do not buy from dealship!Buy off Ebay for alot cheaper!

Thanks for the info Rob. I'm just gonna get the JDM one. Did you replace the I/C splitter too? If so, where did you get it from?

Thanks

You will want to replace the splitter. APS and the GTspec one should fit but you will need to upgrade your hoodscoop as well to an STI style(taller). Also many places sell the OEM STi ver7 splitter w/seal
