Question Is the SPT intake worth buying?

I have done a whole lot of searches on this topic and I am not sure what to think, so I guess I am finally mustering up the courage to ask the question....WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE SPT INTAKE? I have heard a lot of people say that it makes no difference in power, but the boost seems to "turn on" a lot sooner and smoother. Also, if I am going to run the Cobb base map, will the SPT Intake conflict with it or cause problems? Is it really worth the money?

I'm running the spt intake(w.heatshield) right now on my 05 sti. i am also running the cobb stage 1 93 octane as a base map. i haven't had any problems. i may just throw my stock air box on, then reflash. just to see if i notice any differences.

I'm running the spt intake with heatshield right now.
other mods before the intake include : helix catted downpipe and sti uppipe flashed with cobb stage 2. No problems what so ever. after I installed the intake I fell the car run a little smoother. intake sounds a little highter you can hear the bypass valve when shifting now. I think it was about under 5 hp gain.

I'd spend my money elseware. To do it right you should run the heat shield and IMO you're not going to get $300 worth of performance out of it.

paosti or DemonPossessed

Is the SPT heat shield actually a full enclosure or does it just form a wall around the intake?

As far as intakes go....

The best reason to consider the SPT is that it comes from Subaru and they won't give you crap about warranty issues.

If you are considering an intake, this is reason enough.

spt intake

MO REX, Its not a full enclosure however it does seem to block off at lot of heat. however I do see some little gaps for example it does not seem to go all the way flush up to the hood. I'm no where near my car right now so I can't really check it but when I get home after spring break I can double check. all and all I thinks it seems to block off more than the k&n typhoon
