I was wondering how long before you need to have the car smog tested? I have an 04 and i've been hearing that it was 4 or 5 years depending on model year....Is this true??

i've heard not until 2008 for us lambert (5 years from the year the car was purchased)

 

im happy for that

 

5 years for OBDII cars from the first date sold

 

 

I thought it depends on the model year like mine is an 04 purchased 5/03

 

not that I know of, the last 2 OBDII cars I purchased was 5 years till the first smog, then 2 years after.

 

Which site do you think i should check regarding this?

 

Currently exempt from the State of California Smog Check program are:
Motorcycles
Diesel
Two-cylinder or less
Two-stroke (two-cycle) engines(excluding rotary engine)
Engines under 819cc
1973 model-year vehicles and older
4 model years old and newer (except for initial registration in California or change of ownership)
