My other question is I have my stock 2002 wrx catback will this bolt onto the helix dp, and if so with just the catback i should pass smog correct?

I dont see how a catless exhuast can pass the emissions testing, maybe a high flow cat. Keep your stock exhaust for when the time comes

You need at least one catalytic converter after the turbo to pass the emissions in CA. With no cats, you're just spewing raw fumes out...I have no idea about the helix fitment

+1 You won't pass smog without any CAT... at least one. It's the catatylic that will make you pass, not the catback. Just bolt back on the stock downpipe when the time come. You say you have an 02 so it's been more than 5 years. You will have to do this every year. After five years of the year of the car, the smog check applies, then every year after that. I just recently did my catless setup with helix downpipe with my stock catback, and it fits just fine. You should be able to fit it.

You should opt for a catted downpipe, but then you won't pass the visual inspection. So either way, you won't pass since the law said that you cannot change the catalytic converter, unless damaged or failed, otherwise, it stays... period.

It's biennial.. every 2 years, not 1.

And since he has an 02, it's only been 4 years, not 5.

I'm sorry, forgot to say that, it's actually 6 years, not 5, not 7.

Also, if your car is 4 years old, or newer, you do not have to smog the car when you change ownership.

screw arnold and his emissions laws. the real culprit for global warming is action films, not hot subies.
