silencer

Has anyone bought a silencer for their HKS exhaust. How does it fit? is there any chance it would come of while driving like on the freeway. Also does it make a noticeable difference in sound?

thanks
linford

any website you recommend to get it at for a reasonable price?

Hyper/Hi-Power model I assume? babysmurf has one. I think she needed to modify it though, because it's made to fit the JDM version of the exhaust. It's still pretty loud if you have a downpipe and uppipe, but I'd assume it'd be a lot quieter on just a catback...

if you tighten it with a wrench, it stays on pretty well, I lost my first one when i just tightened it by hand, that thing flew off when i was getting on an onramp,

I have a jdm HKS Carbon Ti, so the silencer fit right out of the box. according to babysmurf, even if it doesnt fit, all the modifications you'll need to do is one saw cut.

Honestly, i can barely tell any difference with and without the silencer. but i got loud exhaust fix it tickets signed off twice, with it on, so go figure.

It's a lot quieter with it on. At least that's what the people who sat in the back seat of my car told me.

You must be running just catback

With up and downpipe, it doesn't make much of a difference...

That was when I was just running a catback.
When I put the UP and DP on, it was damn loud, even with the silencer in. I would bet that the silencer did something; just not enough to make it reasonable.
Now I'm just running the UP and stock turboback. Nice and quiet (doesn't pull as hard, but I can hear myself think).

all you HKS Guys are lucky, all us Blitz Nurspec guys are twice as loud - I hate my silencer though, it looks really ricey. I wish it was farther back in the exhaust so it wasnt so visible.

You can always paint the silencer flat black
