sick turbo
ok so i was driving my car today and i was seeing at what RPM i reach for full turbo boost in different gears. 1st gear was about 5000 rpm, 2nd was 4000, and 3rd was 3000. My car is completely stock and has less than 4000 miles. For some reason i remember by turbo spooling at 3000 rpm in second gear. Is something wrong with my car, or am I just thinking things? Also why is peak boost reached at different engine speeds in different gears?

Boost is load dependent.
1st provides little load, and goes real quick too. By the time there's enough load to spool up full boost, it's almost gone.
As you add more load (less mechanical advantage) you get a more gradual increase in RPM and earlier onset of full boost.
I'm thinking 3000 RPM in 3rd doesn't sound too far off from what it should be for a totally stock engine.
