Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Should I wait for my accessport before doing uppipe down pipe on my '04?

Im no pro but I see nothing wrong with doing the exhaust first. The person that had the problem may have needed to just reset the ecu afterwards. I know of a guy that posts here that had some problems untill he reset his ecu.

I can't find it now, but someone said they had problems with their '04 when they did a TBE (ran like crap, etc) and uppipe. Is there truth to this? I ordered an accessport, but it won't be here till mid April at the earliest.
There's gotta be 04's out there with turbo backs that can respond to this. Did u try posting the same ?? @ nasioc?

I'm getting my dp /up installed next week, possible turbo back the week after that.

I'll post it here if it runs like crap,(I hope not) although I doubt it, from what little research I've done, the ECU takes a couple of days depending on how much u drive to learn the changes in your exhaust system.

The main issue is that the 04 ECU looks to the EGT for input when going from closed loop to open loop fueling. This of course
relates more directly to an up pipe change more than TBE.

I beleive Cobb said fairly early on, that they didn't think there would be too much of an issue; but then Trey later modified the
04 maps to look more like the 02/03 as far as fueling is concerned.

The only real issue I see in your case will be if your deleteing the second and/or third cats.. You can expect to get a cell unless you do either the MIL, or the mechanical fix in the 3rd cat.

I've had a Bosal catback on for some time now, and have the bosal DP ready to go on. AND!!!!.. My pretty new AP should be delivered tomorrow!!

As I understand it; the stage 2 maps have the cell stuff taken care of.

I don't see why you couldn't put the TBE on now; but I'd shy away from an uppie till my AP was in..

Just installed the Stromung TBE on my 04'. I had no issues with it. I have eliminated the 2nd and 3rd cat and i used the mechanical cel fix from WRXncrew. It works great. Big difference in the car. More power, quciker throttle response. I am still waiting on my accessport though. You should have no trouble with your 04' if you do the TBE now. Maybe like someone else said if you do have trouble just reset your ecu. Good luck. You'll love it.
