I just changed my stock egt sensor out and it was melted bad. I put the new one in thinking the car should run fine but it dosent it boggs, hesitates and barley revs past 5000. I tried the wastegate adj. no luck still the same. The car at 5000 will make a loud ticking noise coming from the front drivers side, it almost sounds like wastegate flutter, but its not. It almost sounds like a spun berring but i dont know how i could of blown the motor in 7000 miles.?? Thanks Tom

was it running bad before you changed it? sounds like you might have mangle the turbine with bits of egt sensor. yuck, bad news.
on the other hand... does this ticking sound like a really bad screaming screech? if so it could just be a leak and you have to better tighten the sensor or pipe... but I'm thinking its not that.

Its more like a ticking sound and then it sounds like metal rattling.....could that be the probe off the egt or would that blow though the exhaust? Would i see the turbine blades messed up if i took the intake off it? Also the car in stock mode wont run more then 7-8 psi of boost.

the turbine is connected to the exhaust, not the intake.
you didn't answer my first question.
stock mode? do you have a UTEC or something? how about gving a list.

Im sorry I misunderstood you, I thought you ment the compressor turbine. Right now all the car has is an ame cai and turbo xs bov, thats it. It wont even rev past 5000 rpms it hesitates sooo much.?

the compressor is on the intake, the turbine is on the exhaust.
you still didn't answer my first, and most important question: did you have these problems before replacing the sensor?

oh, yes, of course.
Sounds like, then, that you did run egt probe bits through the turbine blades. Ick. I'm not sure why you can't rev past 5000 though. Can you rev past 5000 in neutral?

yea its fine with no load on it it will rev to 7000 grand no problem only when im driveing the car does it run like crap. The only time you really hear the bov is when there is no load. When I drove the car 15 min ago it wont boost past 6lbs. and you can barley hear the bov.

re-read the posts by mmboost. he's trying to tell you what the problem likely is. it sounds like when your egt probe melted, part of it got into your turbo. if that happened, it's likely that you also have damage to the up-pipe cat.
now why would the egt probe melt? extremely high EGT's. what can cause high EGT's? a CAI can do it, especially on an '04.
take it to a dealer, have them diagnose it. please tell them what your mods were so that: A) they can diagnose the problem easier, and B) so you don't commit warranty fraud.

so, they'll fix the problem under warranty (fraud by the way). you'll get the car back, put the intake and bov back on, and 7000 miles you'll be back there with the same problems.
tell them what you had done so that they can actually pinpoint the problem so you don't do it again.

sigh, yeah ... what to do, eh?
If you feel brave enough, take the turbo off yourself (get new gaskets) and then unclamp the turbine housing and look at the blades. Then you'll know for sure.
As for going to the dealer... any mechanic will know what happened. In stock form you're not going to melt an EGT probe, no way. What has been know to happen is that the pre-turbo cat disintegrates and eats the turbnie. "Too bad" that wasnt your problem. Well, either way, good luck. For me, I took the honest route and bought mechanical breakdown insurance from my car insurer. I highly recommend it. If you are within yoru first year of ownership, try to get it frmo Geico.
