after you take the intake silencer out you dont need anything else the delete elbow is just a waste of money.

i dont have one, but im guessing it wouldnt be any different from kastle's korner. it connects the two piece together, it does the job, but honestly why not just hack the silencer, and save yourself 40 bucks?

I have it. It just takes the place of the silencer box, no modifications necessary.

Like the previous poster indicated, you could hack the stock airbox, or just let the car suck in air from the fender. But with the elbow you get the benefit of the stock air-ram plus you can put the silencer back if you have warranty issues.

true but you can put the stock intake silencer in even if you dont use the elbow. i took the "ram air" thingy and the silencer out and am jsut running the intake box, personally i dont think you need the elbow and you dont really need to hack anything.

I've read data that suggests the stock ram-air provides a better flow at high speeds but the gain looks pretty marginal. Between that and the desire to keep the engine bay looking stock, I went with the delete elbow.

But of course the way blue blurr mentioned is pretty much free, you just have to seal your airbox to the fender and plug the other hole.

why do you have to seal the hole that the silencer met the intake box? its not like rain can get in the intake casue of the black fender lining. is there anything other reasons to plug that hole?

If you seal the hole you'll only get cool air from the fender, rather than heated air leaking in from the engine room. That's why you'd plug the other hole (the one that the ram used to use) too.

I'd say that it's a waste of money... better spent in other places. The gains must be so marginal that I couldn't bring myself to spend $40 or so on that "mod".

I don't know what the part number is, but I believe its called a Velocity Stack. I bought this part off an STi owner who had taken it off in lue of an intake mod. Its a pretty clean way to finish off the Intake Silencer Removal Mod.

There is a $2 OEM plug that will plug that front hole. No part number but searching here or nabisco/clubwrx should locate it.

I picked up my silencer delete ebow from Dynamispeed in LB. It is made by GP moto and i believe Rallitek sells the same product. Just installed it tonight and I'm about to take the rex for a ride and see if there is a difference. With the GPmoto elbow, no modification to the intake is necessary. Seems like a good deal for oem look and fit.
Carbon fiber elbows are pretty, but you wont really be able to see it too well in the fender. The velocity stack looks cool, but if you want to look stock, go with an elbow of some sort.

If you choose to take off your ram and silencer, and want a plug, the part # is here for $5

I wrote down the part # for the fender plug somewhere... I'll post it as soon as I find it. Also, it's $6 at Ron Price Subaru, so am I getting ripped off?! Who said it's $2?!
Oh, the plug also keeps you engine bay cleaner
