Question Race Fuel

I was wondering when you all talk about race fuel. Do you mean leaded or un leaded? I have an 87 Grand National (Turbo V6) and leaded fuel kicks my 02 sensors ***. Is it safe for WRX and how high octane do you put in (100,110, 112)?

Thanks,
Nick

You can get up to 110 octane unleaded usually, which is safe for your car. Leaded gas will be clearly marked as such, so don't stress too much over accidentally filling up on it.

where do you get 96 in petaluma?

i have run 118 leaded straight with no problems. remember not to run leaded gas with cats, it will melt them pretty much on contact.

Lead doesnt melt the cats. It coats the platimum and renders it usless. So no catalitic action and the converter stays cooler and clogs up.. resulting in no exaust gettin out the tail pipe.

And lead also coats the O2 sensor rendering it usless also.

No cats in car. I live in MI, anyone know of a country wide gas station that has unleaded race fuel over 94? 94 is the highest I can find. Most of them around here 100 and up are leaded.

leaded gas can go into a unleaded engine, but unleaded can not go into a leaded engine, really screws them up.

Unleaded can go into leaded if it is high octane. My mom has a 1960 Corvette that needs leaded fuel or it can take 92 or higher unleaded and be safe. Usually 94 is put in it.
