questions about ej257 SB

well i got a ej257 SB going in my car soon.. the part that concerns me are that i am still using stock ej20 heads and cams.. will it totally hinder the performace of my car using these? this upgrade wasnt totally planed.. old motor gave out so i got this to get it running again.. some say it runs fine.. some say it runs like crap, others say it needs cams and not much else and the rest say it needs head work..

anyone can help me on this subject?

thank you

I cannot remember, but I think the compression will either be too low or too high if you use STi shortblock and WRX heads.

i dont recall, but i think with the pistons i am using it will be around 8..5 to 1 or something..

which isnt to low or to high

just worried that my heads wont flow well enough to support the increased displacement and that my cam profile will be totally wrong for this set up..

Well, you did not say anything about having different pistons.

P.S. What is up with people asking a question and not providing all the info.

haha whoops!!

jdm ej20 heads (off a 96/7 wrx)
ej257 block
cp pistons
bpm crank/rods
stock turbo
fmic (but 02 wrx tmic/bov is on it right now)
intake
uppipe
downpipe
catback
link ems
550cc injectors
255 walbro

haha back to the question, will everything flow ok? or should the heads get a nice port job and get some nice cams.. if they flow ok should i just get cams?

thanks

yeah i know, that is an easy fix.. the heads are more of a concern at this moment.. since the motor has to be pulled and parts removed to install the heads/cams.. turbo.. i can just unbolt a few things and stick it (sorta)

if you get my drift..

i havent gotten much replies in the areas ive posted or to the people ived talked to.. lets say about.. 15 people// about 4-5 said it should be fine with no real problems (2 of which are running the set up but one has cams) the rest thinks there might be some issues.
