Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Question Pulley or I/C hoses????

I have TurboXS stage 4 sitting in my room (vf34, sti pinks, walbro fp, full exhaust, Utec). I was wondering if, since i have the upgraded turbo, that the i/c hoses be a better mod than the pulley? Even if the hp gains are the same, wouldn't the hoses stress the turbo less? I understand a pulley is supposed to add even more hp with modded engines...any suggestions?

Both are great mods but for what you have I would say the I/C hoses would probably help a little more. I hope you are doing the uppipe as well =) ....... anyways why not do both as they are on the cheaper end of mods. I have a lightened Vishnu underdrive pulley with belts if you are interested and new hoses are only $120 shipped and second hand ones are cheaper ....

I would also go for the I/C hoses.

ic hoses make a big difference with the vf34, I went with the perrin set. it actually fits the vf34 better than the stock hose. i wouldn't even bother with the bov bypass hose as it's a major PITA. i didn't even put on the throttle body hose, just the y hose.

Go with the hoses. The pulleys just scare me, too many questions that are still unanswered.

I know for a fact that the Perrin lightweight pulley does improve throttle response, but since the stock pulley is rubber-isolated, I wouldn't mess with it.

Messing with your pulleys and Flywheels can cause probs with your crank bearings in time.

I had the pulley in my hand, and last minute took them back and got ic and maf hoses. Same reason as above. Too many unanswered questions.

Go for the I/C hoses. Lightweight pulleys, like lightened flywheels, have been known to sometimes trigger cylinder misfire codes on the stock ECU.
