Please help, I %#*@!ed up...
Hi folks, I know I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for this, and it IS well deserved. I went out yesterday to just drive around in the snow (donuts, practicing my laughable attempts at pretending I'm a rally driver), just over all trying to have a good time; when all of a sudden I could no longer get my car to shift into 1st or 2nd. I had to limp home in third gear and back my car up the driveway 'cause I couldn't get into 1st. What the hell happened? Ideas on making this a little less pain in my wallet? Any constructive input you have will be greatly appreciated, and other (less construtive) comments will be understood.
thank you
thank you

With the clutch all the way in, the shifter will simply NOT go into first. It seems like you can shift into second, but as soon as you let the clutch out it pops back into neutral making a slight grinding noise. all the rest of the gears work just fine, clutch feels the same while letting it out and moving. I wasn't going over any bumps, I was in a big empty parking lot.
^^^ sent this in my PM, thought it pertained to this thread so I can see if anyone else has $0.02 on what has happened before I try to take it in. Thanks again v6

if you haven't passed your warranty period (and you don't have any mods that could point to the destruction of the tranny), they should either refurbish the screwed gears- or give you another tranny- can't hurt to try
speed safely

Im thinking more along the line of 1st and 2nd gear being junk like Brian said.

I hope not, but it looks that way.

May want to try moving this in the tranny forum, some of the N/A guys my not check in here and help you out. I say warrenty is your best bet. Take a peek under the car first just to make sure nothing is out of place, but this does seem like some internals are shot. Best of luck.
Just get a 6 speed

hey all, thanks a lot for all the info. I couldn't get back to this forum the past couple days, I kept getting sent to the old one. I was only out for about 10-15 minutes before this happened. I'll have to just take it to the dealer like most of you have suggested. sounds like what ever is wrong is stuff I have no idea how to deal w/. Update though, it'll actually stay in second now, but first is still a no go.

oh, and I would love to get a six speed, wonder if I can convince the dealer to do that for free... or I may be able to take it easy on the ramen for a couple days, 'till I start getting light-headed, and offer them a couple dollars to do it
haha
