This maybe a stupid question, but im going to ask it anyway. What is the purpose of an EGT gauge. isn't the only heat your really need to worry about oil and coolant? Just wondering because I see their not cheap and a lot of people suggest putting then in. Figured id ask

EGT and A/F meters are prolly the most needed gauge in a turbo car. Although they both do about the same thing, you need to be careful with your EGT even if you have a good Air Fuel ratio. I remember when RoadRace was just using a AF meter and were still melting pistons due to the fact that even though they AF showed them running a good mix, the EGTs would spike after a long race and still do damage.
With a good EGT, you can still tune your fuel mix and keep an eye on your temp at the same time, that’s why I recommend a EGT before a A/F meter. If you have room, run both, if not, the EGT is most important.
