Hey all, got anutha question for ya. I have a greddy oil temp guage probed on top of the block under the intercooler. (works great btw, always know when its hot enough to get busy...) anyways, i also wanna add an oil pressure guage. can i have both? if so, where do i place the probe for the other one? thanks for the help. hasta

Yes. But you dont need it. You could try all sortsa things. You could try to put a Y in the hole ontop of the block instead of the just the adapter. You can also get it from the oil pressure switch. You can use (as last resort in my opinion) a gasket-like insert for your oil filter that has line attachment.

I was curious if there was some type of oil monitoring switch or probe that the ECU uses to monitor the oil pressure. you confirm my suspicions, so here's my questions:
1. Where on the engine is it located?
2. Would it cause any problems if I put a "Y" in there and attached my greddy oil pressure probe next to the factory switch?
and i know this has been asked before, i did some searching... but what are the advantages of monitoring oil pressure at certain locations on the block versus other locations?
thanks all for you help, see you in the twisties eh...

The ECU does not monitor oil pressure. The switch is just for the warning light on the dash and isn't worth much as a useful indicator since it won't come on until the pressure drops to 2 or 3 psi by which time it's probably too late.
If you're installing an oil pressure gauge you can either get an adapter fitting that will "T" off the existing sender, or use another location on the engine (I believe there is one available, not sure exactly where it is). You can also just do away with the OEM sender and put your gauge sender in its place. This will disable the warning light but with a good gauge you don't need it anymore. You might even be able to get a gauge with a warning light built in.

nice info dude, thanks. i have all greddy gauges with peak hold and a warning feature. but i do not want to disable any of the factory electronics. if you could tell me where the factory sensor is located on the engine block, i'd love to see if a "Y" will fit in there so I can add my own sensor to the array... I currently have an oil temp probe mounted on top of the block under the intercooler, but i don't want to "Y" that one off because the probe for the temp gauge needs to be down in the stream of oil to be accurate and if it were "Y'd" off, it may not do that very acurately.
So I want to tap into where that pressure switch gets into the oil. thanks dude, later

For a guage... I dunno about importance. If you lose pressure, seriously lose it, something is already DRASTICALLY wrong. I'd say temp is more important as a gauge that would be periodically checked while driving/racing. Infact, I regret getting a pressure gauge now and wish I had gotten a oil temp gauge.

Presumably you would be replacing the switch with a pressure sender for a gauge.

From what I hear, its a pain getting in there. Not all that hard, but a pain. You should change out your accessory pulley at the same time
IMHO, you should leave the stock sensor/switch in there. Its asking for fingerpointing at the dealership in terms of warranty. There are other places. Why not use them? If you have the top of the block already tapped, why not just T off that? Seems like such an easier job.
