aaaawwwww what’s the mater all you hard core engine builders and tuners out there only know about bolting on stock replacement stuff...... i.e. (HKS / Apex / Blitz) and don’t really know anything about tuning or racing your subies.... there has to be someone out there that knows how to hook up a extra oil cooler somewhereon the engine....

Someone makes an adapter that sandwiches in between your oil filter and the engine. It takes hose fittings for the inlet and outlet of the oil cooler. I'm thinking Greddy but I have to check it out to be sure.
And by the way, suberacer, please keep your smack comments to yourself. If people knew the answer off the top of their heads, I'm sure they'd post.
EDIT: The adapter I remember was advertised for the EJ20 - don't know for sure if it'll fit on an EJ22. What car is this in?

Wingless Wonder, thanks for your reply. but your answer does not fit my question with the sandwiches...... that would get rid of the stock cooler... i wanted to keep it as it does warm up the oil on the cold daysand serve some cooling under normal driving.

For some reason I don't think this will expedite the reply process...

Would an air cooled oil cooler provide more oil cooling than the stock water cooled oil cooler? I know that on my rx7, I added a setrab 25 row oil cooler with -10 AN fittings and watched my oil temps drop 10 celsius vs. the stock dual oil coolers.
What are your oil temps now? I know my friend with a WRX sees 10 degrees lower than his water temps for his oil temps....or roughly around 80 celsius.

jspecracer7,
there are around 260- 280 deg under boost and normal is 170 or so... water temp is 200 - 220 deg
maybe thats what i will have to do is get the sandwich adapter that Wingless Wonder told me about... but i did want to keep my water to oil cooler cuz it does warm up the oil quick and its a little cold out now..
thanks for the post jspecracer7

Anyway, getting back to your question concerning oil coolers - ScoobyMods.com has a mod to install an oil pressure gauge from an existing tapped hole on the EJ20 block, underneath the factory TMIC. Maybe this plug is also present on your block. Wherever you end up tapping into the oiling system, just make certain that the oil line just doesn't dump into the oil pan, otherwise your oil pressure will go almost to zero. It has to be plumbed back into the system somehow.
If you can't find the specific answer you're looking for, you might check with shops that specialize in race build-ups of Subaru engines, such as for sand drags or rallying.

Wingless Wonder,
thanks for the link i checked it out and i have about 6 of the plugs in the oil jacket on the engine.. 4 on the top 2 on the front... my question is now if i hook up to some of them....will the oil flow through the cooler...or will if flow through the oil jacket?? will it make one side of the block cooler than the other??
thanks for your reply Wingless Wonder
send me your address and i will e-mail pics of my car in different stages of fab and buildup of my car

See, here's the problem with you not getting a really quick reply.
Some of us are over 17 and we don't get home from work until way after the big yellow schoolbus drops you off.
Give us a few minutes.
Get the sandwich adapter and put on a really good air/oil cooler. It will cool the oil much better with 50-60-70-whatever degree air than it will with 200 degree water. Mount it in the airflow wherever you like. You also get more oil capacity and that's good.
Don't worry about "warming up" your oil. That's whay you use multi-viscosity oil.
Oh, and wash your mouth out with soap.

I think that your best bet would be to run a large 34 row air cooled oil cooler using the oil filter sandwich adapter as stated above.
