Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Noob exhaust/EM questions

I have an 04 wrx wagon. I bought a Helix uppipe and uncatted Helix downpipe from someone. I had been researching this when the other site went down. Anyway, I intend to go Cobb AP Stage 2. Here are my questions.

1. On Nasioc, people had been talking about sticking with the stock catback system to keep noise lower and the stealthy look. Will this work? Does anyone know if the Helix DP will mate up to the stock bits? Will I need some kind of adapter? It looks kinda big.

2. If the answer to #1 is that I have to buy a different catback system to go Stage 2, will the Bosal Unit Subaru sells mate up to the Helix DP? I don't want some melon shooter and I think one of the dealers here have them in stock. It would be handier to stop by and get it rather than mess with shipping and whatnot.

2. I am ordering my AP today probably. Can I install the UP and/or DP and use the car before it gets here?

Thanks for your help.

Wow, lots of questions.

1. You can use the stock catback. However you may not see the full benefit of the stage 2. The requirement for stage 2 used to be just a DP. You may not even know the difference. I would call Gruppe-s and ask them if the helix dp will mate to the stock cat back. I think they sell the combo.

2. Yes you can drive the car fine with the up/dp installed with no em. I would just do an ecu reset after you get them on, other wise you will not get the full advantage of the mods. Also i would get an EGT gauge. I ran lean with my AP and i switched to utec with a Custom tune. This was before the "protune". It is a good gauge to get anyway to keep and eye on things.

Good luck.

Btw, some have had good luck with ebay for helix stuff, i think the TBE is on there pretty cheap and from what i heard it is pretty nice.

1) yes it will mate. you might have a small leak there, so just keep the windows down

2)yes the bosal will work

3)you can still drive the car before the AP comes.
