It's called the search engine.

I think it's about time to make a "these are the best first mods" sticky around here.

How much money do you have, and how much do you care about your warranty?

Most bang for the buck would be an ECU reflash, from Cobb or any ECUtek dealer. $400-700 for ~20-30hp. Start opening up the exhaust (uppipe/downpipe/etc) and get the reflashes to go along with it can net you 45-50hp over stock.

Any more than that and you're talking bigger turbo, fuel upgrades, intercooler upgrades, etc.

eveyone's a noob at one time...

yeah, an ECU reflash would get you the most bang for the buck. The up pipe and down pipe combo will get you a consiberable ammount of power and arnt that major of a mod, although the up pipe is a pain in the **** to install.

I agree with mexican pizza...

Reflash->uppipe & downpipe -> catback

these are the best bang for the buck

Stock tires are crap.

Put more pressure in them if you're driving aggressively. The wheels are not crap. They are very light for stock wheels. There are many paths, grasshopper (Kung fu). What are your goals? Straight line? Track car? Bling?

I agree get some good tires. Also the stock rotors suck, so you could get those too. Just don't buy a blow off valve as your first "mod".

My first mod was clearing out my headlights! I also just ordered the silencer delete elbow. Being new I plan on going more suspension for now, because i dont want to void my warranty until atleast a year. Whatever you do, have fun with it.

I just got my car reflashed this weekend, here's what I got....

Baseline (BONE STOCK WRX) = roughly 185 WHP

MY car with full exhaust (UP/DOWN pipes, Perrin Cat back) NO reflash = 195 WHP

MY car with full exhaust AND Reflash = 230 WHP

Total gains = 45 WHP = SEXXAY FUN and BIG SMILES!

These measurements were taken with the ECUTech ROAD DYNO (PC based tool used in Tuning W/ ECUTech software IF no "real" dyno is available.) This is supposed to be pretty acurate from what I understand (within about 3-5 HP) but I still wanna see what a "real" dyno says too.

When's the next Dyno Day?

Depends on whether you want to add for show or for go first. If you want to add for go, then an ecu reflash, and turboback would be a great way to go. That's the route i'm headed. Just waiting on the accessport to comeout. If you want to go for show, i'd get some rims/tires and springs/coilovers and also a window tint. Just my opinion.

like they all mentioned already, you need to list a bit more information about what you plan to do with your car.

my first alteration was tint, then i got rid of the snorkus for a bit.

if you want suspension the wheels and tires would be a good start or a rear sway bar.

or save for a bit and just work on your driving skills. there are a few people that treat this car like any other fr and end up killing their tranny

driving school, then exhaust, pullies, silencer mod, and reflash...id do them in that order although the reflash gives the most power alone...
