Need advice...low boost

Hi Folks...I have a low boost issue. Im getting 6-8 psi, but no more. I had noticed a did not have the restrictor pill in the vac line, so I ordered one and put it in. No change....everyone thought it would solve my issue. what else should I be doing? I'm strapped at the moment from x-mas and cant afford to go to GST till next month. Any suggestions??

I think 6-8psi means you are running at wastegate pressure. So something is wrong with your boost controller or maybe a loose vacuum line somewhere. try searching nasioc, i'm pretty sure you will find relevant information there, just remember to take it all with a grain of salt and check with a shop you trust before investing money into a NASIOC solution.

If you happen to end up needing a new wastegate actuator I have a few good ones laying around for the TD04, let me know and you can have one for free99. Hope the problem gets fixed without too much hassel.

I had this problem once. Cobb tuning told me to do power checks on the boost solenoid. Turned out it was actually my wastegate door getting stuck on my divorced wg downpipe flange. Thanks to Paul@dbtuned for helping me figure that one out!

Jeez....I'll have to look into these possibilities. I also found out today my center diff is going out....wtf, I guess I did buy a lemon. I knew i was going to have to do a little work, but this is too much, i'm maxed out money wise. I've already done the clutch, brakes, timing belt, and rebuilt the shortblock. Maybe I should think about selling it to someone who can do the work themselves....any idea what I could get for it? 67,000 miles by the way. I paid $10,000 a year ago and put another whopping $6,000 since !!! I feel embarrased and ashamed, but didnt know then to even look on this forum for advice. Its got some cool mods, tien coilovers, edfc, clifford alarm, tenabe cat back, leather seats, momocorse wheels, samco hoses.

After talking to Paul at DBTuning, maybe my center diff ISNT going. I get a rubbing and vibration on right hand turns, but not left. If it was my center diff, both turns would have the same effect. I'm going crazy...just gonna have to take it in for complete exam.

For your rubbing vibration on right hand turns try checking your fenderwells for spots where the tire could be rubbing. check the back part of the right front fenderwell for tire rub.

could be your wheel bearing causing that sound.

no sound like a click, just feels like im going over lil' bumps, and theres a slight muffled thump thump thump and a vibration in the wheel. I'll check the fenderwalls. Just took it to a suspension shop and all the guy told me is that my bushings looked a little worn and not very straight. He had a bugeye for 5 years, and told me it seems like the center diff because of the slight whining noise that gets higher pitched with more rpm. But it seems like the sound is only there when in gear, when I coast in neautral, no sound.

Could be your CV joint on the right front. check your axel on that side. try wiggling it around see if its loose. look under there on both ends of the axel and check the boots and see if they are ripped or torn.

Would have thought the grease monkey at the local brake shop would have done that when I asked for a suspension inspection...I guess I shouldnt expect much for $25...LoL. So, jack the car up on both sides to check for wiggle?

yes. jack the car up and check your axels and feel if they are loose or clunking. Also take a look at the boots on both ends of the axel. if those are torn then that could be your problem.

Went to another suspension place and he tried the wiggle test on the axels. It turns out the axel on the driver side has a little play where it goes into the tranny. Does this mean my center diff is going out? thats what the guy said, but who knows...i've now gotten 3 diferent diagnosis. One guy told me that if it was the center diff, it would make this rubbing feeling turning left or right, not just right. Any thoughts?

It could be a diff bearing or just a bad axle. Give us a call if you'd like to get it checked out.

Thanks
